October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a crucial time to raise awareness and support those affected by this pressing issue. Our Lifeline Fund virtual fundraiser runs throughout October to help raise awareness and prepare for the upcoming challenging season.

Why Support is Needed The sobering statistics from the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence emphasize the urgency of our mission. On average, almost 20 people per minute endure physical abuse at the hands of an intimate partner in the United States. Over the course of a year, this figure surpasses 10 million women and men. Each day, domestic violence hotlines across the nation receive over 20,000 calls, with intimate partner violence accounting for 15% of all violent crimes.

Who Needs Help It’s important to dispel the misconception that domestic violence exclusively affects women. In reality, the gender distribution is more evenly balanced, with 40% of abuse cases involving men. Moreover, children suffer the repercussions, even if they are not direct victims of violence. Shockingly, 1 in 15 children is exposed to intimate partner violence each year, with 90% of these children bearing witness to such traumatic events.

Why Give Now These distressing statistics are exacerbated during the holiday season. Police interventions related to domestic violence spike by 20% in December compared to other months. This is why your support is more crucial than ever.

How We Help In 2022, Single Parents Rock made a significant impact through the following services:

  • Provided emergency temporary or permanent housing to 402 victims.

  • Offered emergency transportation to 170 victims, facilitating their escape from abusive situations or hospital stays to shelters and court appearances.

  • Supported 107 victims with relocation transportation, ensuring they could safely transition to secure living arrangements, both in-state and out of state.

How You Can Help Our Lifeline virtual fundraiser runs throughout October. Help us continue our vital work. Enable us to meet the increased demand expected during the upcoming holiday season. Your generosity makes a profound difference in the lives of those affected by domestic violence. Let’s create a safer and more hopeful future for all.
